LATEST RELEASE:
“Shotgun Neighbor” explores the feeling of being blindsided by your own mind when you least expect it. It captures the tension between searching for peace and sensing that something is always lurking beneath the surface, ready to pull you back into fear, doubt, and isolation. Through an eccentric, dreamlike soundscape, the song takes the listener on an intense and dynamic journey through inner conflict, confronting the ghosts and fears that follow us and finding the courage to stop running from them.

ABOUT THE BAND:
Skunk Oil is a Los Angeles-based heavy alt-rock band blending the grit of Soundgarden, the edge of Queens of the Stone Age, and the melodic intensity of Muse into a sound that feels both familiar and forward-looking. Pulling from across generations of rock while carving out a modern identity, their music pairs hook-driven songwriting with a raw, unfiltered energy, often laced with subtle psychedelic textures.
Beyond sound, Skunk Oil leans into themes of self-awareness, identity, and the tension between authenticity and perception. Their recent material reflects a growing focus on the psychological and cultural patterns shaping everyday life — confronting everything from self-sabotage to the quiet pull of external validation.
Following the release of their independent EPs Skeletons in the Closet (2018) and Under Skinned (2022), the band has continued to build momentum through live performances at iconic Los Angeles venues like the Whisky a Go-Go and the Viper Room. They recently completed recording their debut full-length album at the legendary Sunset Sound Studios, marking the next chapter in their evolution.
